LOS ANGELES, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Sarah Michelle Gellar is confirmed to reprise her Cruel Intentions role for NBC's upcoming TV remake.

Gellar, who appeared in the original film over 15 years ago in 1999, will again play Kathryn Merteuil opposite Samantha Logan, Taylor John Smith and Sophina Brown.

The actress confirmed the news with a throwback photo on Instagram Wednesday, highlighting director Roger Kumble and executive producer Neal Moritz.

"That's right 'everybody loves me, and I intend to keep it that way' #kathrynmerteuil is back!!!," the actress wrote. "I am happy to say that I will be joining [Kumble and Moritz] (and @nbc) on the new #Crueltv."

Gellar's television fame stems from her Buffy the Vampire Slayer role, as well as CBS' The Crazy Ones, CW's Ringer and a vocal role on Star Wars Rebels.
