NEW YORK, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders appeared in a sinking ship-themed sketch on this weekend's edition of Saturday Night Live.

Guest host and Sanders doppelganger Larry David was playing a wealthy, early 20th-century passenger trying to weasel his way past women and children into a lifeboat, and just as his character declares, "Technically, my life is worth more than all of yours put together," Sanders emerges from the darkness, yelling: "Hold on, hold on. Wait a second!"

Sanders received enthusiastic cheers and applause from the audience as he stood side-by-side with David and announced: "I am so sick of the 1 percent getting this preferential treatment. Enough is enough! We need to unite and work together, if we are all going to get through this."

"Sounds like socialism to me," remarked David.

"Democratic socialism," Sanders clarified, prompting David to ask, "What's the difference?"

"Huge difference!" Sanders said.

"Who ARE you?" David wanted to know.

"I am Bernie Sanderswitsky, but we are going to change it when we get to America, so it doesn't sound quite so Jewish," Sanders explained.

"Yeah, that'll trick them," David quipped, as the ship's captain revealed they were in New York and all going to survive the maritime mishap.

"Share a cab?" Sanders asked David.

"Meh, I think we've talked enough," David replied.

The episode of the show also featured a skit with David playing Sanders on the campaign trail.
