LOS ANGELES, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Ariel Winter celebrated her 18th birthday on the Modern Family set.
The actress, whose birthday is Jan. 28, was fêted with a chocolate cake, as seen in a photo Winter's co-star Sofia Vergara posted on Instagram. Other co-stars, including Sarah Hyland and Eric Stonestreet, shared sweet messages on social media.
"Happy 18th birthday @arielwinter!!!!! It blows my mind that you're now the age I was when we first met. Love you little sister," Hyland wrote. The 25-year-old actress plays Winter's onscreen sister, Haley Dunphy.
"Happy birthday to the sweet, adorable and wildly talented @arielwinter1," Stonestreet tweeted. "My promise to have Ed O'Neill crush anyone who hurts you remains." The 44-year-old actor portrays the star's onscreen uncle, Cameron Tucker.
Winter, who plays Alex Dunphy on Modern Family, was 11 when the ABC sitcom premiered in 2009. The actress was legally emancipated from her parents in May, and discussed her path to stardom in the latest issue of People magazine.
"I've kind of been in adulthood for a little bit now," she said. "I was put in the industry when I was 4. I love what I do, but I don't know if it's a choice I would have made on my own. People criticize you at an extremely young age. There's a lot of rejection."
Winter is also known for voicing Gretchen on Disney Channel series Phineas and Ferb and the title character on Sofia the First. Modern Family also stars Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. It airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
