LOS ANGELES, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Kristen Bell will guest star on iZombie in January.

Rose McIver, who plays Liv Moore on The CW series, announced the news in an Entertainment Weekly video Tuesday, saying the cast is "very, very excited" to have the 35-year-old actress on the show.

Bell will have an unspecified voice role on the Jan. 26 episode, "Fifty Shades of Grey Matter." The episode will see Liv consume the brain of a young librarian and erotic fiction writer who died of poisoning.

The guest role will reunite Bell with Veronica Mars series creator Rob Thomas, who developed and executive produces iZombie. The actress played Veronica for a three-season run from 2004 to 2007, and provided narration for the series.

Ryan Hansen, who portrayed Dick Casablancas on Veronica Mars, previously guest starred on iZombie, along with Percy Daggs III (Wallace Fennel), Daran Norris (Cliff McCormack), Adam Rose (Max) and David Starzyk (Dick Casablancas, Sr.).

"I think about Veronica Mars a lot when we're doing iZombie," Thomas told Fast Company this year. "I worry about it. I have some fear that the reductive thinking could be: 'petite, blonde crime-fighter with first-person narration' ... In my mind, they're two different people, but I understand the similarities."
