NEW YORK, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- HBO has released the first teaser trailer for Season 6 of their hit fantasy-drama series, Game of Thrones.

The 40-second clip released Thursday features the recently slain Jon Snow (Kit Harington) in a flashback sequence as the ominous Three-Eyed Raven (Max Von Sydow) touches on the show's history and unknown future.

"We watch, we listen, and we remember," The Three-Eyed Raven says in a voiceover. "The past is already written. The ink is dry."

The teaser then presents a gruesome montage of the series' most violent deaths throughout its first five seasons. Suddenly, the gifted younger sibling of Snow, Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) comes into view and mysteriously mutters, "They have no idea what's going to happen."

In November, HBO released a character poster of Snow leading fans to believe that he would in fact be returning despite meeting his untimely end during the closing moments of Season 5.

Game of Thrones will return in April 2016.
