NEW YORK, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- CBS has ordered seven more episodes of its new superhero drama Supergirl, upgrading the series to its first full-season.

As reported by Deadline, Supergirl will now run for 20 episodes during its freshman season. Normally a full-season would consist of 22 episodes, but CBS is still referring to the upgrade as a full-season order.

The series' initial 13 episode run has received positive reviews from critics and averaged 11.24 million views for the network along with a 2.8 rating among adults aged 18-49 in most recent ratings.

Supergirl premiered strong in October with 13 million viewers for a 3.1 rating and stars Melissa Benoist as Superman's cousin Kara Danvers as she embraces her lineage and begins using her powers for good as Supergirl.

Earlier this month, actress Jenna Dewan previewed her role on the drama as Lucy Lane and how her character develops a friendship with Kara.
