Felicia Day has joined upcoming 'Mystery Science Theater 3000' revival

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Actress Felicia Day has joined the cast of the upcoming Mystery Science Theater 3000 revival.

Series creator Joel Hodgson announced the news on Kickstarter Monday where he has already raised over $2.5 million in an effort to produce more episodes of the cult comedy classic. Should the campaign reach its $5.5 million stretch goal, Hodgson has promised to produce a full season of 12 episodes.

Day is set to star as Kinga Forrester, the show's next Mad and the daughter of series regular Dr. Clayton Forrester. Hodgson also announced that comedians Hampton Yount and Baron Vaughn are set to voice Crow and Servo respectively while noting that none of these castings are final until the end of the fundraising period. Day confirmed the news on Twitter writing, "Yes it's true, I am going to play Dr Forrester's daughter on new @MST3K! Will terrorize the hell outta @jonahray!

Mystery Science Theater 3000 originally aired for 11 seasons before it went off the air in 1999. The series famously featured two mad scientists, Dr. Clayton Forrester and Dr Laurence Erhardt who along with their test subject Joel Robins watched and commented on various B-movies in order to take over the world.
