LOS ANGELES, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Lady Gaga says she didn't shy from her bloody American Horror Story: Hotel sex scene.

The 29-year-old singer-turned-actress discussed the FX show's premiere in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Lady Gaga and Matt Bomer's characters, Elizabeth and Donovan, lured a couple in with group sex before killing them on Wednesday's episode.

"I know what maybe everybody things happens is that I get a script and I go, 'Oh, yay! A foursome. Whoopie!' And it's not just like that," she said of the scene. "I don't just simply do things because they are provocative or because they are shocking."

"I'm doing it because the story that [creator Ryan Murphy] is telling about addiction, the story that he's telling about our own narcissism, the story that he's telling about how the human being strives to survive within the challenges of the universe," she explained. "That to me is what makes the sex so good."

Lady Gaga will take both male and female lovers as Elizabeth, aka The Countess, an Elizabeth of Bathory-inspired character. The season marks her first foray into television, and she recently told E! News fiancé Taylor Kinney helped her make the transition.

"Taylor has been exponentially supportive the entire time," she said of the 34-year-old Chicago Fire actor. "He's just so cool. I mean, what guy in that scenario would be like, 'Sure, babe, do TV!'? ... He taught me all about etiquette and what actors would appreciate during their coverage."

American Horror Story: Hotel was preceded by Murder House, Asylum, Coven and Freak Show, and airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET. Lady Gaga last released Cheek to Cheek with Tony Bennett in September 2014, and got engaged to Kinney in February.
