CANNES , France, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Rock icon David Bowie has created the title-sequence music for The Last Panthers, a six-part crime series to air in the United States this spring, SundanceTV announced.

"We're so proud to partner with the world-class team behind The Last Panthers," Christian Vesper, senior vice president of international programming, development, acquisitions and co-productions for SundanceTV, said in a statement. "This series has incredible energy and high-stakes drama that we are confident will connect with our SundanceTV audience, and further expand our slate of high-quality, original series from around the globe."

Starring Samantha Morton, Tahar Rahim, Goran Bogdan and John Hurt, the drama inspired by the real-life exploits of a band of notorious Balkan jewel thieves will premiere Nov. 12 on Sky Vision in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Germany and Austria.

CANAL+ will air it in France later this year.

Directed by Johan Renck and set in modern-day Europe, the program had its global premiere Monday at MIPCOM 2015 -- the world entertainment content market -- in Cannes.
