NEW YORK, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Actress and recording artist Miley Cyrus sang "My Way" during her opening monologue for this weekend's Saturday Night Live Season 41 premiere. Wearing a tiny, flower-covered dress and matching hat, the 22-year-old guest host performed the anthem to individuality as she saluted pop-culture figures she hopes have seen the end of their 15 minutes of fame.

"While I'm excited to be here, I'm also kind of sad because it feels like the summer of 2015 has officially come to an end and, with that in mind, I'd like to take a moment to say goodbye to all of those who made this summer what it was," Cyrus said before starting her song. "And while we will never think of any of these people ever, ever again, they certainly did this summer their way."
As Cyrus sang the Frank Sinatra classic seriously, SNL cast members appeared on a split screen dressed as Rachel Dolezal, the white woman who pretended to be black for 20 years; the cast of the unsuccessful Entourage movie; disgraced Subway sandwich pitchman Jared Fogle; and reality TV star/serial philanderer Josh Duggar.
Other dubious celebrities called out in the montage were gay-marriage opponent Kim Davis, who was seen trying to put her arm around a reluctant Pope Francis; Walter Palmer, the dentist who killed Cecil the lion; Martin Shkreli, who was referred to as "that twerp who raised the price of AIDS medication;" Pizza Rat; Meek Mill and Drake, who were embroiled in a high-profile feud; and Lenny Kravitz, who experienced a wardrobe malfunction on stage.
