SILVER SPRING, Md., Sept. 2 (UPI) -- The British comedy series Doc Martin will become available in the United States next month via Acorn TV, the streaming service said.

Starring Martin Clunes and Caroline Catz, the show is about "a tactless, self-centered, and uptight doctor in a quirky seaside town in Cornwall," according to press notes.

The first two episodes of the eight-installment, seventh season will air Oct. 5, followed by a new episode every Monday through its season finale on Nov. 16. Acorn TV also features all previous seasons for catch-up viewing.

The ensemble of the show includes Eileen Atkins, Ian McNeice, Joe Absolom, Jessica Ransom and Selina Cadell.

"Acorn TV continues to be a leader in the digital movement for niche streaming services with our deep library of lavishly produced, highly entertaining international programs," Miguel Penella, chief executive officer of RLJ Entertainment said in a statement Wednesday. "Acorn TV is having a stellar year with receiving our first Emmy nomination and exclusively premiering star-studded, world class mysteries, comedies, and dramas. We are thrilled to work with DRG and Martin Clunes again to premiere another must-see season of one of the most successful U.K. series in the world."
