LOS ANGELES, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Actress Jessica Lange will reportedly return to FX series American Horror Story.

Series creator Ryan Murphy revealed as much in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Lange starred on the show's four previous seasons, but announced her departure ahead of season 5 in March.

"I've been talking to her," Murphy revealed. "It's always possible. I'm trying to deal with her play schedule. Jessica is always about the character. She'll be back -- she's not gone forever."

"That's the fun and fresh thing about the show: sometimes somebody has to go away before you realize how much you miss them," he opined. "She wants to come back, we just have to come up with something."

Murphy is gearing up for season 5, American Horror Story: Hotel, which will premiere Oct. 7. Singer Lady Gaga will lead the cast as the hotel owner, an Elizabeth of Bathory-inspired character, and shared a photo in costume from the show's set this week.

Lange portrayed Constance Langdon, Sister Jude Martin, Fiona Goode and Elsa Mars on Murder House, Asylum, Coven and Freak Show, respectively. The actress is preparing to reprise Mary Tyrone in Long Day's Journey into Night on Broadway.
