LOS ANGELES, July 4 (UPI) -- NBC has no plans to air another season of A.D.: The Bible Continues.

The network ordered the series after its predecessor The Bible was a huge hit on cable TV's History channel in 2013, but Entertainment Weekly reported NBC has declined to renew the faith-based program due to low ratings.

Produced by husband-and-wife team Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, the second installment in The Bible franchise garnered about 6 million viewers during its 12-episode, second season, which ended last month.
