Stephen Colbert invites Supreme Court Justice Scalia to appear on 'Late Show'

NEW YORK, June 27 (UPI) -- Stephen Colbert aimed his laser-like wit at U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia for his dissenting vote in Friday's majority decision to nationally legalize gay marriage.

Later in his 3 1/2-minute YouTube video, titled "June is a Lovely Time For a Wedding," Colbert invited Scalia to appear as a guest on The Late Show, which Colbert will begin hosting Sept. 8 on CBS.

In blasting vocal detractors of this week's landmark gay-rights decision, Colbert sarcastically noted Scalia was "more nuanced in his criticism, writing that if he ever joined any opinion that began the way Justice Kennedy's majority decision did, he would 'hide my head in a bag.'"

"I could have sworn he was already hiding his head in a flesh-colored cinch sack," Colbert quipped. "Please come on my show, sir."
