VANCOUVER, British Columbia, June 10 (UPI) -- Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny have started work on The X-Files revival.

The 46-year-old actress and 54-year-old actor were spotted filming this week in Vancouver, Canada. Anderson and Duchovny portrayed Dana Scully and Fox Mulder on the original Fox series, and will reprise the roles for the new season.

Anderson teased fans last week with a photo of her freshly-dyed red hair, and shared a picture of her and Duchovny's director's chairs Monday. She also posted a snapshot of herself atop her new apple box, the prop she stands on to make up for her height disparity with the actor.

Community star Joel McHale will appear on the revival, and shared photos from set Monday and Tuesday. He captioned the pictures, "Shooting @xfilesfox today! So excited. This shot (spoiler) is from near the set" and "More spoilers from the @xfilesfox. #Secrets #IWantToBelieve."

The X-Files previously ran for nine seasons from 1993 to 2002, and will return as a six-episode limited series in Jan. 2016. The series follows Scully and Mulder as they investigate unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena.
