Red Nose Day telethon raises $21M for fighting poverty

NEW YORK, May 23 (UPI) -- The inuagural U.S. Red Nose Day telethon has raised $21 million to help impoverished young people around the world, NBC announced.

More than 100 A-list artists took part in Thursday's three-hour entertainment program, which featured musical performances, comedy sketches and pre-taped videos.

The event took place in New York and was hosted by Seth Meyers, David Duchovny and Jane Krakowski.

Coldplay's hilarious Game of Thrones: The Musical mockumentary short, which was narrated by Liam Neeson and starred numerous GOT cast members, has become a viral sensation with 3.75 million hits on YouTube since Thursday.
