LOS ANGELES, May 5 (UPI) -- Kym Johnson and Robert Herjavec say their recent kiss was merely for show.

The 38-year-old Australian professional dancer and 51-year-old Shark Tank personality locked lips during their performance Monday on Dancing with the Stars, but subsequently insisted the smooch was staged.

"It was just part of the dance!" Johnson declared to Us Weekly before admitting, "We just thought, 'Let's see how we feel on the night,' and that's what we did. It took me by surprise because I didn't know if he was going to do it or not."

Herjavec also downplayed the passionate moment, telling the magazine, "We're professional dancers, we were just in the moment ... I'm just creating beautiful moments for the audience!"

Johnson and Herjavec are partnered on season 20 of the ABC reality competition, and first sparked dating rumors at the premiere after party in March. The pair dodged questions about their romance in early April, but Herjavec later confessed he and Johnson share more than dancing.

Johnson and Herjavec kissed during their contemporary routine to "Champagne Kisses" by Jessie Ware, and earned a 33 with their performance. The pair have done well in competition, but are one of the lower-scoring couples who remain on the program.
