LOS ANGELES, March 28 (UPI) -- Producer Robert Kirkman has revealed on Twitter the title of the upcoming Walking Dead companion series will be Fear the Walking Dead.

"IT'S OFFICIAL! The walking dead companion show on AMC is called FEAR THE WALKING DEAD! Expect more news very soon! #FearTheWalkingDead," Kirkman tweeted Friday.

AMC this month announced it has placed an initial two-season order for the second series. The first, which takes place mainly in Georgia, is to wrap up its fifth season Sunday.

Set in Los Angeles, the second zombie-apocalypse program will focus on new characters and storylines.

The show's first season will consist of six one-hour episodes to premiere on AMC in late summer. Season 2 will air in 2016.

Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero and David Alpert from The Walking Dead are executive producers of the new series, which, like the original, is being produced by AMC Studios. Dave Erickson, who co-created and co-wrote the pilot with Kirkman, is an executive producer and series showrunner.

The cast will include Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey.
