Knightfall will be a scripted series about the events leading up to and following the persecution of the Knights of Templar. Hundreds of members of the Christian military organization were burned at the stake Friday the 13th in 1307, and the order was officially disbanded in 1312.

Renner previously produced and starred in Gary Webb biopic Kill the Messenger. The actor appeared in a first teaser for Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation over the weekend, and will return as Marvel superhero Hawkeye in Avengers: Age of Ultron come May 1.
