NEW YORK, March 20 (UPI) -- Lena Dunham has become more comfortable with her sex scenes on Girls.

The 28-year-old actress created and stars as Hannah Horvath on the HBO series, and discussed her risqué scenes in an interview with Yahoo this week. Dunham previously appeared in sex scenes for indie films, but said the experience was different on a television set.

"[I learned] I'm a little braver than I thought," she related. "It was one thing when I was doing them on indie film sets, but when you step on to a set that's 50 or 100 professional crew members I went, 'Wow, I really did it today. I took my robe off.'"

"There's a really scary moment where you wonder, 'Are people going to greet this as what I know it to be, which is an artistic statement, or are people going to turn it into something that feels vulgar or unkind?'" she shared.

Girls co-stars Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke and Zosia Mamet, and will air its fourth season finale Sunday at 9 p.m. ET. Dunham and executive producer Jenni Konner said the episode will feature an "exposure for women" never before seen on television.
