Jessica Lange to leave 'American Horror Story' ahead of 5th season

"I've done four great characters," Lange said. "It's enough."

LOS ANGELES, March 16 (UPI) -- Jessica Lange is leaving American Horror Story after four seasons.

The 65-year-old star, who has had parts in all four seasons of Ryan Murphy's anthology for FX, told the PaleyFest audience on Sunday she was "done" with the show.

"We've had a great run here. I have absolutely loved doing these four characters that I've had the opportunity to play, and in all madness, I love the writers and Ryan and the insanity of shooting it," she said, according to Us Weekly.

"I've done four great characters," Lange said of her roles as Elsa Mars, Fiona Goode, Sister Jude Martin and Constance Langdon, "It's enough," she added.

The new season of American Horror Story, Hotel, is set to feature a new batch of cast members including Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer and Cheyenne Jackson. The last two, announced their joining the cast at PaleyFest and later reiterated the news on Twitter.

American Horror Story: Hotel will premiere in October.
