'The Expendables' series to be developed by Fox

The show is described as a "fun action drama that unites iconic TV stars as a new team of highly-skilled heroes who are on a mission to stop a dangerous terrorist."

LOS ANGELES, March 6 (UPI) -- Action thriller franchise The Expendables will be turned into a television series for Fox.

A series based on the film trilogy will be produced by Silvester Stallone, who wrote and starred in the movies, Deadline reported Thursday.

The show is described as a "fun action drama that unites iconic TV stars as a new team of highly-skilled heroes who are on a mission to stop a dangerous terrorist."

Producers have yet to approach actors for the show's casting.

The television project comes from Lionsgate TV, the small screen sibling of Lionsgate, the production company behind the three Expendables films. The last installment of the franchise, The Expendables 3, was released in 2014.
