LOS ANGELES, March 6 (UPI) -- The Big Bang Theory has paid tribute to science-fiction icon Leonard Nimoy, who died last week at the age of 83.

At the end of Thursday's episode of the sitcom, series creator Chuck Lorre posted a black and white photo of Nimoy with the words, "The impact you had on our show and on our lives is everlasting."

Nimoy is best known for playing the character Spock in the original Star Trek TV series and film franchise. He lent his voice to a Spock action figure in a memorable 2012 episode of The Big Bang Theory, which is about a pair of physicists -- played by Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki -- and their various friends and neighbors.
