NEW YORK, March 6 (UPI) -- Former 30 Rock star Alec Baldwin is eying a return to the small screen in a new, as-yet-untitled HBO series.

The Hollywood Reporter said Baldwin would play a billionaire real-estate developer who unexpectedly becomes the mayor of New York City on the hourlong program, which is now in development.

Baldwin also would serve as an executive producer on the show, should it move forward.

The 56-year-old actor can now be seen in the film Still Alice, starring Julianne Moore in her Oscar-winning performance. His other film credits include Beetlejuice, Working Girl, The Hunt for the Red October, The Aviator and The Departed. He earned two Emmy Awards, three Golden Globes and seven Screen Actors Guild Awards for his work on 30 Rock, which ran for seven seasons from 2006-13.
