Starz releases intriguing new image from 'Outlander'

By Karen Butler

LOS ANGELES, March 5 (UPI) -- Starz has released new art, which hints at what is in store for viewers in the second half of the freshman season of its fantasy period drama Outlander.

"The new image acts as a continuation and echo of the premiere key art, but with a dark and dangerous tone," the cable television network said in a news release. "It depicts heroine Claire [played by Caitriona Balfe] in a moment of confrontation rather than one of transition. She and Jamie Fraser [played by Sam Heughan] have moved closer and are now a united front. As opposed to reaching back and trying to stay connected to the life and husband she left in 1945, this new image depicts Claire brandishing a dagger at Black Jack Randall [played by Tobias Menzies.] A reverse shot of Black Jack, as seen from Claire and Jamie's perspective, shows the peril they face and what they are up against during the second half of this season."

Adapted from Diana Gabaldon's international best-selling books and executive produced by Ronald D. Moore, the series is to return on April 4. It has already been renewed for a second season. Like the books, the show follows Claire, a former World War II nurse, as she is magically transported back to the 18th century.
