'My Little Pony' to return to Discovery Family for a fifth season

SILVER SPRING, Md., March 5 (UPI) -- Season 5 of the animated series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is to premiere on Discovery Family April 4.

Created by Hasbro Studios, the show will return with two back-to-back episodes at 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. ET.

"Season 5 will really delve more into how the magic of cutie marks and friendship can impact those around you," Hasbro Studios Executive Director Brian Lenard said in a statement Thursday. "You're going to see a lot of new and exciting characters this season, and first and foremost is Starlight Glimmer."

"My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has amassed an adoring fan base that truly spans all ages," added Tom Cosgrove, general manager of Discovery Family. "We're delighted at the opportunity to keep this audience entertained while sharing the series' enduring and positive messages of friendship."
