J.K. Rowling on 'Casual Vacancy' finale: 'That's me crying my eyes out'

LONDON, March 2 (UPI) -- British author J.K. Rowling took to Twitter to express her reaction to the weekend finale of the BBC's adaptation of her mystery novel The Casual Vacancy.

"@CampbellJonny1 @PhelpsieSarah Well, that's me crying my eyes out, so job done. Serves me right, some might say. Thank you, thank you xxx," the scribe tweeted Sunday.

The three-part miniseries was directed by Jonny Campbell from a screenplay by Sarah Phelps. Starring Michael Gambon, Keeley Hawes, Rufus Jones, Rory Kinnear and Julia McKenzie, the program is to premiere in the United States on HBO this spring.

Rowling is best known for penning the Harry Potter fantasy blockbusters.
