LOS ANGELES, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Actor and former talk-show host Craig Ferguson is to star in The King of 7B, a single-camera comedy pilot for ABC.

The ex-Late Late Show emcee will play an agoraphobic recluse who leaves his apartment for the first time in 11 years when he sees what could be his soulmate moving into the building across the street, Deadline reported.

Starring Carla Jiminez and Kirby Howell-Baptiste, the pilot is being written by Howard Franklin and directed by David Frankel. Ben Karlin is the showrunner.

Ferguson was a cast member of The Drew Carey Show sitcom for several years before hosting his own chat program. He ended his 10-season run as host of CBS' The Late Late Show in December.
