Sideburns and bright clothing rule the day in teaser for 'Mad Men' final season

By Matt Bradwell

HOLLYWOOD, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- The cast of Mad Men is stylishly looking toward the 1970s in the new trailer for the final season of AMC's flagship series.

Fans can catch a glimpse of nearly every major player in the cast as the brightly-clad employees of Sterling Cooper & Partners shoot smarmy looks from receding hairlines to newly grown sideburns set to Diana Ross' 1976 hit single "Love Hangover."

Series creator Matthew Weiner is famously uncomfortable showing his hand, and in typical Mad Men fashion, the teaser reveals almost nothing about the plot of the final half of the show's last season, focusing only on the art direction and cast.

"It's really a tall order," Weiner described to Vulture in 2013 when asked about Mad Men's history of obtuse teasers.

"'Please don't mention anything beyond the first 20 minutes of the show, please don't spoil this story, please don't spoil that story.' Then there was the idea of, 'Can you at least do what they used to on The Sopranos promos, which is to make it look like it's some other kind of story?' That required a ridiculous amount of effort and wasn't always possible, even in The Sopranos promos. Eventually, they sort of evolved into this kind of non sequitur thing."
