NEW YORK, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Rosie Perez returned as a panelist on The View Tuesday after a weeks-long absence during which she was practicing for her role in a Broadway play.

Although some media reports claimed the chat-show host had been fired after just four months on the daytime program, ABC and Perez's fellow panelist Rosie O'Donnell had always publicly insisted she would return as scheduled.

She was greeted affectionately by her co-stars O'Donnell, Whoopi Goldberg and Nicolle Wallace on Tuesday.

"Rosie Perez is back, y'all!" declared Goldberg, who herself missed two weeks of shows due to a bad back. "This is so great. We are back as we were originally. This is The View."

"Good to have you back, honey!" O'Donnell told Perez as Wallace applauded.

Perez said the first preview of her play Fish in the Dark, co-starring Larry David and Rita Wilson, went well Monday night.

"It was amazing!" she said. "There is not a weak link in the cast. My entire cast is fabulous. Larry David was letter-perfect last night. Not one slipup. ... We got a standing ovation."

Asked how she is feeling, Perez replied: "Girl, I am feeling fabulous. I am feeling fabulous. I am very, very, very happy to be back."

Wallace then told her, "That is your seat, sister."

Numerous guest hosts filled in for Goldberg and Perez while they were out, so this was the first time in more than a month the season's four regular hosts appeared together.
