NEW YORK, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Crab boat captain Sig Hansen and reality TV personality Kate Gosselin were fired on Monday's edition of the business-themed competition series The Celebrity Apprentice.

Hansen was the first to go in the episode after his team lost a challenge involving a themed Circle Line cruise around New York Harbor. Hansen's "Sexiest Catch" cruise included food and wait staff from Hooters, as well as a history lesson by Geraldo Rivera, who yelled: "New York is back! Screw the terrorists! We won!" while urging passengers to appreciate the new World Trade Center building.

Hansen was fired after his teammates Gosselin and Vivica A. Fox said they thought he failed as a project manager.

"I really like Sig, that's my problem," judge Donald Trump said. "But I have no choice. Sig, you're fired. Thank you. And I'm giving you $25,000 for [your fundraising effort for] the Coast Guard. I think they're incredible. Get out of here. Thank you."

"This is the first time I've ever been fired in my life," Hansen said. "And I've got to tell you, it was pretty humbling, but I took a gamble, it just didn't work out the way I planned it."

In the second half of the two-hour show, Gosselin led her team to defeat in a challenge to create a showcase promoting the Trump National Doral golf course, spa and hotel in Florida. She and her teammates -- Fox, Rivera and Kenya Moore -- focused on creating a Blue Monster mascot to represent the resort.

While the mascot was a hit, Trump's sons Don and Eric said they felt Gosselin's team failed to capture the property's luxury in its display.

"I am shocked, actually," Gosselin said when she learned her team lost the competition. She then explained she didn't have time to pull the showcase together because Fox and Moore were arguing and took too long to get back to her with the props she needed.

Pressed to recommend someone for Trump to fire, Gosselin said Moore, however, Moore noted Gosselin's team had lost two challenges before she joined the dwindling unit for the most recent task after Hansen was fired.

"It feels as though this is people ganging up on me because I am a strong player," Moore said, which Fox vehemently denied.

"Kate, you are the project manager, which is a problem. There is no question about that," Trump said. "Trump National Doral is really high-end and it didn't have a luxury feel. I will say that and you do have a very difficult team to handle. Dealing with Kenya and dealing with Vivica, in particular, has been, I think, pretty tough and I really feel it's your time. Kate, you're fired."
