LOS ANGELES, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Amanda Peet didn't think Game of Thrones would make a good television series.

The 43-year-old actress admitted as much in an interview with Conan on Monday. Peet is married to Game of Thrones co-creator David Benioff, and told host Conan O'Brien she initially thought the show was a bad idea.

"Yes, I thought it was a terrible idea. Terrible! Just silly. Like Dungeons & Dragons, but real, with real people," she confessed to boos from the audience. "Now I'm obsessed!"

Game of Thrones is based on the A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy book series by George R.R. Martin, and premiered on HBO in 2011. The adaptation proved a success with critics and fans, and will return for a fifth season April 12.

Peet is known for portraying Jordan McDeere on NBC dramedy Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, and Laura Hellinger on CBS drama The Good Wife. The actress and close friend Sarah Paulson made headlines this week for getting cheeky at the 21st annual Screen Actors Guild awards Sunday.
