Philbin left his own morning show Live with Regis and Kelly in 2011 and Letterman is scheduled to retire from The Late Show May 20, with Stephen Colbert set to take over his spot.

The Late Late Show has relied on a stable of rotating guest hosts in between longtime emcee Craig Ferguson's departure last month and the start of James Corden's stint as new permanent host March 23. Other substitutes include Judd Apatow, Will Arnett, Wayne Brady, Jim Gaffigan, Billy Gardell, Sean Hayes, Thomas Lennon, John Mayer and Kunal Nayyar.
