'Love Boat' cast reunites to decorate Rose Parade float

Fred Grandy, Ted Lange, Bernie Kopell, Gavin MacLeod, Lauren Tewes and Jill Whelan were on hand to help adorn the 60-foot-long, 24-foot-high float with more than 24,000 flowers and natural materials in preparation for Thursday's event.

SANTA CLARITA, Calif., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- The original cast of the luxury liner-set TV series The Love Boat gathered to decorate Princess Cruises' Rose Parade float Monday.

Fred Grandy, Ted Lange, Bernie Kopell, Gavin MacLeod, Lauren Tewes and Jill Whelan were on hand to help adorn the 60-foot-long, 24-foot-high float featuring a ship replica, with more than 24,000 flowers and natural materials, in preparation for Thursday's parade in Pasadena, Calif., the cruise line said.

Today co-host Al Roker joined the cast in singing the show's theme song ahead of the parade.

Since The Love Boat took place on a Princess Cruises vessel, the show's cast members, as well as some of its iconic guest stars, have been turning out for promotional appearances to help the cruise line gear up for its 50th anniversary in 2015.
