LONDON, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- George Clooney stars in a Downton Abbey sketch for charity.

The 53-year-old actor portrays George Oceans Gravity, Marquis of Hollywood, and Cora's (Elizabeth McGovern) husband. The humorous special is inspired by It's a Wonderful Life, and sees Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) imagine life at the manor house if he had never been born.

Clooney appeared in the sketch to benefit ITV's Text Santa fundraiser. The annual event aims to raise awareness and funds for six charities in the U.K., including Teenage Cancer Trust and WellChild. The actor is a fan of Downton Abbey, and co-starred with Bonneville in The Monuments Men.

Downton Abbey debuted in 2010, and airs on PBS in the U.S. The period drama takes an upstairs-downstairs look at the aristocrats and servants who live and work at an English estate in the 1900s. Season five will premiere in the U.S. on January 4, 2015.

Clooney will star as Frank Walker in upcoming Disney film Tomorrowland. The actor is also scheduled to portray Lee Gates in Jodie Foster film Money Monster, and Baird Whitlock in new Coen Brothers comedy Hail, Caesar!.
