NEW YORK, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- PBS says it challenged lifestyle expert Martha Stewart and her team to whip up a gingerbread likeness of the Grantham family's home from Downton Abbey.

Stewart, a huge fan of the costume drama, did not disappoint.

Once her masterpiece was finished, she invited Downton Abbey cast member Lesley Nicol for a special preview of the "Gingerbread Abbey" and a tour of the Martha Stewart kitchen in New York City.

"Martha Stewart's 'Gingerbread Abbey' took two bakers from her team 34 hours to decorate and two hours to assemble," PBS said in a news release. "The structure features 65 caramel windows and required 66 cups of flour, 22 eggs and 11 cups of molasses to create."

Stewart also is encouraging others to share their Downton-inspired confections throughout the rest of the holiday season using the Twitter hashtag #GingerbreadAbbey.

Season 5 of Downton Abbey is to premiere in the United States Jan. 4.
