Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemos to star in second season of 'Fargo'

Dunst will portray Peggy Blomquist, a beautician who is trying to figure out who she is while dealing with "societal expectations," while Plemons will play her husband, Ed, a butcher, who tries to help his wife overcome her newfound path.

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons will lead the cast of the second season of Noah Hawley's anthology for FX, Fargo.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, production for the 10-episode season will begin in January in Calgary. The second season will revisit a 1979 incident introduced in the ninth episode of the first season, "A Fox, a Rabbit and a Cabbage."

Dunst will portray Peggy Blomquist, a beautician who is trying to figure out who she is while dealing with "societal expectations," while Plemons will play her husband, Ed, a butcher, who tries to help his wife overcome her newfound path.

Hawley will return to helm the second season of the show and new cast members will be announced in the coming months.

Fargo is a dark comedy drama based on the 1996 film of the same name about a pregnant police chief in Minnesota who investigates local homicides. The first season of the series starred Billy Bob Thornton, Allison Tolman, Colin Hanks and Martin Freeman, and it won two Emmy awards for Outstanding Miniseries and Outstanding Directing.
