Krijgsman, Dillane win top acting prizes at the International Emmy Awards

The prizes were handed out Monday night at a ceremony in New York.

NEW YORK, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- The Canadian documentary The Exhibition, British actor Stephen Dillane and Dutch actress Bianca Krijgsman won the top trophies at the International Emmy Awards for excellence in television.

The prizes were handed out Monday night at a ceremony in New York.

The Exhibition won the Best Arts Programming distinction, while Dillane won his Best Actor award for his performance in the United Kingdom's The Tunnel and Krijgsman earned her Best Actress honor for her work in the Netherlands' De Nieuwe Wereld (The New World).

England's Utopia scored the accolade for Best Drama, Belgium's What If? won for Best Comedy and Sweden's Frihet bakom galler (No Burqas Behind Bars) was named Best Documentary. El Señor de los Cielos (The Lord of the Skies) garnered the statuette for Best Non-English Language U.S. Primetime Program and Britain's Educating Yorkshire the award for Best Non-Scripted Entertainment. Brazil's Precious Pearl was declared Best Telenovela and Germany's Unsere Mütter, Unsere Väter (Generation War) was named Best TV Movie/Miniseries.

British comedian and writer Matt Lucas hosted the gala at the New York Hilton.
