Jon Hamm to return on 'Parks and Recreation'

The actor first guest starred on the NBC comedy's season six finale.

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Jon Hamm will return as Ed on Parks and Recreation.

The 43-year-old actor first portrayed the character on the NBC comedy's season six finale. The episode saw Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) fire Ed from the national parks department after he proved to be an even more inept employee than Jerry Terry Larry (Jim O'Heir).

Parks and Recreation debuted in 2009, and will return for a seventh and final season in 2015. The series follows Leslie, a well-meaning bureaucrat who runs the parks department in fictional city Pawnee, Ind. Rashida Jones and Rob Lowe will reprise Anne Perkins and Chris Traeger for season seven.

Hamm is best known for his portrayal of Don Draper on AMC drama Mad Men. The actor will return as the adman for a final season in 2015, and is scheduled to voice Herb Overkill in Despicable Me spinoff film Minions.
