Sedgwick is best known for her portrayal of Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson on TNT crime drama The Closer. The series ran for seven seasons before coming to a close in 2012, and the actress has since guest starred as Deputy Chief Madeline Wuntch on Fox comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Sedgwick is scheduled to appear in a number of new films, including The Road Within, Reach Me and Big Sky with Bella Thorne.
