NEW YORK, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Whoopi Goldberg addressed rumors claiming there is tension on the set of The View on Friday's edition of the daytime talk show.

Goldberg was the sole co-host to return to the weekday program from last season, following the high-profile departures of Barbara Walters, Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy. The show's latest additions to the panel are Rosie O'Donnell, Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez.

"I know you guys read a lot of crazy stuff that is not going on for the reasons you think," Goldberg told Friday's audience, referring to media reports suggesting the women -- particularly Goldberg and O'Donnell -- haven't been getting along.

"We actually do like each other," Goldberg explained. "We are affectionate with each other. This is a hard show to do and sometimes all of us get a little stressed. People don't like to lighten up on us because, for some reason, they've decided women having any kind of discussions that are maybe a little loud or maybe a little more intense is not OK, but it is OK because it is human behavior. So, yeah, we're affectionate, but sometimes we bite. Sometimes we do. That's what you do in a family."
