LOS ANGELES, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Dick Van Dyke is to guest star as Goofy's pirate grandpappy Captain Goof-Beard in a music-filled episode of the animated series Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Disney Junior announced.

Van Dyke, 88, previously starred in the classic 1964 Disney movie musical Mary Poppins.

Scheduled to air Friday, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey's Pirate Adventure will feature six new original songs performed by Van Dyke's character alongside Disney icons Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Daisy and Pluto.

The special finds Mickey and his pals enjoying a day at the beach when Peg Leg Pete delivers a note from Goofy's long-lost Grandpappy, asking for the gang's help in ensuring that Harmony-Chord Island, the musical isle where Goof-Beard lives, doesn't go completely out of tune and sink, a synopsis said.

"Anytime it's Disney, I always show up. This is the first time I've ever worked with Goofy, and I'm playing his grandfather. I'm a pirate; nobody ever knew Goofy's grandfather was a pirate," Van Dyke said in a statement.
