NEW YORK, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Embattled celebrity chef and author Paula Deen has been booked as a guest on Tuesday's edition of Today, NBC announced.

"This is Deen's first television interview since her last tearful visit to Today in June 2013, after the scandal that rocked her empire. Deen will discuss what she has learned since then, what has changed, and what's next for her," the network said in a news release Monday.

ABC also announced Deen will appear on its Friday episode of The Chew during a segment called "Down Home Delights." The show will include an appearance by country music duo Big & Rich.

Deen, 67, admitted in a 2013 deposition she used a racial slur in reference to an African-American man who robbed her at gunpoint decades ago, and when pressed, admitted she had used the word in other contexts, though it had been a "very long time."

The confession sparked a media firestorm and, although Deen apologized for her behavior and insisted she is not a racist, she was fired by the Food Network and lost numerous product endorsement deals. She since has been working to revitalize her brand, however, particularly with the online Paula Deen Network.
