Mat Franco crowned Season 9 winner of 'America's Got Talent'

Franco beat out his fellow finalists -- AcroArmy, Emily West, Miguel Dakota, Quintavious Johnson and Sons of Serendip -- on Wednesday's Season 9 finale of the show in New York.

NEW YORK, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Mat Franco has become the first magician to win America's Got Talent.

Franco beat out his fellow finalists -- AcroArmy, Emily West, Miguel Dakota, Quintavious Johnson and Sons of Serendip -- on Wednesday's Season 9 finale of the show in New York.

The season capper also featured performances by Travis Barker, Jennifer Hudson, Lenny Kravitz, Cyndi Lauper, Pitbull, the Rockettes, Ed Sheeran and Train, as well as a special appearance by The View co-host Rosie O'Donnell.

Franco will headline America's Got Talent Live at The AXIS Powered by Monster at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas Sept. 26-27.‎ Additional AGT acts confirmed to appear include AcroArmy, Emil & Dariel, Emily West, Miguel Dakota, Quintavious Johnson, Sons of Serendip and Season 8 runner-up, comedian Taylor Williamson.

America's Got Talent stars celebrity judges Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel. It is hosted by Nick Cannon.
