LONDON, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- George Clooney has filmed a scene with the Downton Abbey cast for charity.

The 53-year-old actor will appear in a short sketch to promote ITV's Text Santa fundraiser. The annual event aims to raise awareness and funds for six charities in the U.K., including Teenage Cancer Trust, WellChild and Alzheimer's Society.

Clooney will reportedly portray an American guest who attends a wedding at Downton Abbey. The short will air Christmas Day on ITV, and may see the actor reunite with Hugh Bonneville. Bonneville portrays Lord Robert Crawley on the series, and co-starred with Clooney in WWII film The Monuments Men.

Downton Abbey debuted in 2010, and airs on PBS in the U.S. The period drama takes an upstairs/downstairs look at the aristocrats and servants who live and work at an English manor in the 1900s. Season five will premiere in the U.S. on January 4, 2015.

Clooney will appear in Tomorrowland, Money Monster and Hail, Caesar! in 2015.
