Kathy Bates, Jessica Lange win Emmys for 'American Horror Story'

Each season of the anthology series features a different setting and cast members playing new characters.

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Kathy Bates and Jessica Lange won Emmy Awards for their performances in the witch-themed TV drama American Horror Story: Coven Monday night.

Bates earned her statuette for Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or TV Movie, while Lange scored the trophy for Best Actress in a Miniseries or TV Movie.

Sherlock co-stars Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch won the Emmys for Best Supporting Actor in a Movie or Miniseries and Best Actor in a Movie or Miniseries respectively.

The Normal Heart was declared the Best TV Movie and Fargo, which also starred Freeman, won the honor for Best Miniseries.
