Stephanie Jacobsen joins cast of 'NCIS'

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Australian actress Stephanie Jacobson is joining the cast of CBS police drama NCIS.

The Revenge star is set to play FBI Special Agent Leia Pendergast, who partners with Senior Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) to crack a case involving "international terrorist threat targeting Navy researchers," according to Entertainment Weekly.

Jacobson's role is said to be "potentially recurring" as she could play a new love interest for DiNozzo.

Agent Pendergast is described as being "Armed but feminine, sexy and single, cool and confident. A former U.S. Marshal-turned FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force leader, she is flirtatious and adventurous with a sense of humor. Leia is a straight shooter, brash when she needs to be. She isn't afraid to knock down doors or egos."

Jacobson's character will first appear in an episode that will be released in October. The show returns to television for its twelfth season September 23 at 8 p.m.
