LOS ANGELES, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- James Van Der Beek is to co-star in CSI: Cyber, a new police procedural scheduled to premiere during the 2014-15 television season, CBS announced.

The Dawson's Creek alum will play FBI Agent Elijah Mundo, an expert in battlefield forensics recruited by Patricia Arquette's Special Agent Avery Ryan for his war efforts in Afghanistan.

Mundo is described as "a savant when it comes to weaponry, vehicles and bombs" and "a self-proclaimed action junkie."
