LOS ANGELES, July 13 (UPI) -- The creators of American Horror Story: Freakshow released the first teaser for the upcoming season, and it's equal parts gruesome and creepy.

The 20-second spot features a wing-clad woman in white crouching down upon a stage and slowly standing as her wings unfurl.

The viewer then sees a pretty angry-looking clown standing behind the woman.

A shot from behind the angelic woman is when things start getting really disturbing — the fake wings are attached to her bloody back and are controlled by the clown behind the scenes.

American Horror Story: Freakshow, the fourth installment from the AHS franchise, is set to premiere in October on FX.

Previous AHS stars Evan Peters, Jessica Lange, Frances Conroy, Sarah Paulson, Denis O'Hare, Jamie Brewer, Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe and Kathy Bates are set to return to the series. New this year are Wes Bentley and Michael Chiklis.
