LONDON, June 25 (UPI) -- Matt Lauer revealed live on air Wednesday that he had flown to London to sit down with Pippa Middleton for her first ever television interview.

The Today co-host had been teasing about his surprise subject early on Wednesday, telling his colleagues that he flew "overnight to sit down and talk to someone who's gotten an awful lot of attention over the last two or three years, not only here in the U.K., but all around the world."

Kate Middleton's younger sister reportedly discussed her recent 3,000 mile bike race across the United States and her life as the royal sister-in-law during her talk with Lauer.

While the two-part interview will air on Today Monday, June 30, and Tuesday, July 1, the 30-year-old party planner and Lauer appeared live via satellite during Wednesday's show to say hello to viewers.

During their segment, the duo joked about how Lauer had to travel all the way to England to meet with her even though Middleton was just in America for the Race Across America event.

"I was on a bike," Middleton said laughing when asked why she didn't phone Today while she was stateside.
